Rüsselsheim. With targeted enhancements to functionality, comfort and economy, the new Vivaro strengthens Opel’s market position in the light commercial vehicle segment. One of the most striking features of the upgrade is the redesigned cockpit. This includes a new instrument cluster binnacle, integrated gear shift indicator and optimized graphic design as well as audio controls on a lateral satellite steering column stalk. This feature is optional with the R0v4 radio and standard with all other audio systems.
The new Opel Vivaro steering wheels feature modified airbag systems, and depending on the version, integrated control switches for cruise control and speed limiter. The steering wheel is available in polyurethane or leather; the cruise control switches are also on the steering wheel in the leather version.
The expertise and experience of the Opel commercial vehicle engineers and designers is also evident in how the many practical details so important in a routine working day influence the ongoing improvement process. For example, storage space around the instrument panel was extended by a large storage area above the glove box, while the full bulkhead models have a coat hanger on the driver and passenger side.
The perception of quality is further enhanced by the infotainment unit bezel, which is also optionally available in chrome. The infotainment offer includes five new systems. The basic radio version R0v4 (without tachograph) with integrated display has an Aux-IN for external music devices and is available in two versions with (CD10) or without CD drive (R10). The next higher version R1 with external display also has a dual channel connection (RCA line-in) and the CD drive CD 20.
The R2 system offers additional functions, including USB interface, Bluetooth technology, a high-resolution display and CD30 BT drive. In combination with an optional TomTom-based navigation system with remote control, the system also has a color display. The navigation system contains electronic map material for all of Western Europe, including Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Turkey.
2.0 CDTI diesel: Greener – more efficient – more economical
The diesel engine program for the upgraded Opel Vivaro is streamlined and features optimized fuel consumption. The 2.0 CDTI engine versions, available with 66 kW/90 hp and 84 kW/114 hp, are now available with diesel particulate filter (DPF); the service intervals for DPF engines are extended to 40,000 kilometers or once per year.
The reduced fuel consumption of the two 2.0 CDTI engines with DPF technology offers further savings potential in terms of operating costs. Depending on the model and version, fuel consumption ranges between 7.5 and 7.8 l/100 km (combined). The equally powerful, especially consumption-optimized ecoFLEX versions consume 7.4 l/100 km.
Many customers also appreciate the Opel Vivaro’s striking design. The vehicle is now available in a new, elegant steel gray exterior color and can also be ordered with dark-tinted windows.
Upgraded model range: Market-oriented, wide range of variants
Overall, the Opel Vivaro model range is highly versatile and tailored to the needs of its mainly commercial users. The upgraded engine range includes an 86 kW/117 hp 2.0-liter gasoline unit as well as a total of seven diesel versions with output from 66 kW/90 hp to 107 kW/146 hp. The 2.0 CDTI versions are available with or without diesel particulate filter, as ecoFLEX variants and in the combinations DPF/ecoFLEX. The upper end of the output scale is marked by the 2.5 CDTI with a powerful 107 kW/146 hp engine; the 2.5 CDTI with 84 kW/114 hp is to be discontinued.
As an alternative to the standard six-speed manual transmission, the two most powerful diesel versions are also available with the six-speed automatic Easytronic transmission.
The body versions available meet the widest scope of utility profile requirements in the lightweight commercial vehicle segment. They include the panel van with standard or double cab, as well as the Combi variants – in two wheelbases, two roof heights and with gross vehicle weight from 2.7 to 2.9 tons – as well as dropside and platform chassis variants.
