Rüsselsheim.  Opel and its European dealers have signed a new contract framework in line with the latest European regulations effective from June 2013. It is the first European manufacturer to have signed such a framework agreement two years before the new rules come into force. The move strengthens the cooperation between both sides.

“With this agreement all parties involved now have a clear roadmap for further planning and investments that will strengthen our customers experience at Retail,” said Alain Visser, Opel’s management board member for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales.

Visser explained: “The smooth transition to the new contracts shows that the dealers have great confidence in the brand for the future and that they fully support Opel’s campaign with six new vehicle launches in 2012. It gives us a framework for all future activities without business disruptions and allows planning security. “

Jaap Timmer, the Head of the European Opel Dealer Association, added: “We have had very constructive dialogue to develop a strong balanced code for our members and the company. It is highly appreciated that the current contracts were not widely terminated but mutually transferred into the new framework. After this decisive step, we are looking forward to smooth cooperation and further market success.”

As part of the new contract the showrooms of Opel/ dealers will get a fresh makeover to meet the new standards aimed at further boosting the growing brand strength.
